Scholarships

At Rocketown, we serve the needs of kids, regardless of their ability to pay. We want to make sure that all kids have a safe, fun place to hang out, learn new things, and find a supportive community. You can ensure this happens for a kid at Rocketown through a monthly investment to a variety of scholarship programs.

After-School Program/RE-ACT Scholarships

With an investment of $25 a month, you can provide a teen in our after-school program with books and supplies needed for his/her classes, a daily snack, and incentives to encourage good grades, being well-behaved, and helping others. Our after-school program is funded through grants and is offered at no charge to approximately 75 low-income youth. Your gift will make sure these kids have all of the other things they need to improve their grades and engage in creative learning.

Sixth Avenue Skatepark Scholarships

With an investment of $45 a month, you can provide a low-income teen with a yearly membership to Sixth Avenue Skatepark, a new skateboard, and a helmet. Many of the kids who receive scholarships come to Sixth Avenue every day. They will tell you that if it weren’t for their scholarship, they would be involved in gangs, drugs, or other delinquent activity.
With an investment of $60 a month, you can provide a low-income teen with one hour of tutoring each week as a condition of receiving the above listed scholarship. By incentivizing teens through activities they love, we can provide a safe place for them to go while assisting them academically.
With an investment of $105 a month, you can provide a teen with both components of the scholarship. We have had tremendous success with teens who receive scholarships – their grades drastically improved and parents and schools experienced fewer behavioral issues.

Summer Sessions Scholarships

Many youth, especially low-income youth, are left to their own devices during the summer. Being home all day with nothing to do can lead to experimentation with drugs, sexual activity, gang involvement, or a variety of other delinquent activities. By supporting a kid to participate in Summer Sessions, you can ensure that a teen has a safe place to go where they can engage in fun activities where they learn new skills and meet new friends.

With an investment of $18 a month, you can provide a full scholarship for a week of Summer Sessions for a low-income teen.
With an investment of $13 a month, you can provide a 75% scholarship for a week of Summer Sessions for a low-income teen.
