Outreach
God has called upon us to care for one another in brotherly love. Through our Outreach efforts, we meet the physical, social and emotional as well as spiritual needs of the kids we serve.
With an investment of $20 a month, you can:
- Provide meals for a kid through the Rocketown Food Plan. Most of the kids on the Rocketown Food Plan will either go without food or be forced to steal food for dinner without the Rocketown Food Plan.
- Provide food for the weekly Potluck Bible Study. This allows kids who do not have the financial ability to contribute to the potluck to still come and be a part of the discussion.
- Provide supplies for the Gearheads program. Gearheads provides a unique opportunity to teens – mostly boys – by pairing them with mentors who are car enthusiasts. While working on an engine or detailing a car, they build relationships and discuss the issues affecting their lives.
- Provide activities for Girls Group. From field trips to the Frist Center to making bath salts, we offer girls an opportunity to express themselves creatively while addressing issues of self-esteem, trust, and respect.
- Provide food for Skatechurch. On Tuesday nights, we come together and talk through part of the Bible and take prayer requests in what we call Skatechurch. Skatechurch is free and open to everyone, and we create a non-threatening environment for kids to ask spiritually related questions and find support.
- Support our Benevolence Fund. We have kids who come here in January without a coat. We have kids who walk here and get blisters because their shoes have holes in the soles. There are kids who can’t do their homework because the light bill can’t be paid. And even parents who come to ask for help so they can feed their kids. We are able to responsibly minister to the needs of our kids and their families through our Benevolence Fund. Whether it is purchasing a Kroger gift card or buying a backpack for school, the Benevolence Fund allows us to meet the basic needs of kids and families.
